82 candidates sponsored by the PTI join the Sunni Ittehad Council
On Tuesday, 82 candidates supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf became members of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
Details indicate that the affidavits were turned in to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by 82 MNAs.
In addition, nine candidates from the Sindh Assembly who had support from the PTI had also turned in party credentials.
The priority list for the reserved seats had to be submitted earlier, per the SIC’s directive.
In a separate development, PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan called on ECP CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja to quit on Tuesday due to political unrest.
Amidst political turmoil, Barrister Gohar requests the resignation of the ECP CEC.
“There is a dire need to hold transparent accountability for the rigged elections,” stated Khan in his statement.
“The ECP CEC has become controversial,” he declared. The electoral monitor has not carried out its mandate.”
“We are having the demand to organise Form 47 in line with Form 45,” Khan stated.
“We have reached an agreement with the Sunni Ittehad Council,” Khan said in reference to the discussions with the council.
“Yesterday, the list of 50 MNAs was sent to the ECP,” Khan stated.
“The PTI had emerged victorious on the 180 NA seats,” he said.
“The former commissioner, Liaquat Chatta, and his family should be given protection,” Khan stated.
