More than 1,000 transgender individuals have been trained under the Punjab skills program.

More than 1,000 transgender individuals have undergone vocational training through the Pehchan initiative, initiated in November 2024 as a component of the Chief Minister’s Skilled Punjab Initiative.
The Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) reported that 1,054 individuals received training in diverse disciplines like as beauty and grooming, culinary arts, performing arts, information technology, handicrafts, and digital freelancing.
Over 980 individuals who received training have obtained employment with reputable organizations, while others have initiated small enterprises in locations including Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Gujranwala.
The program, executed in partnership with more than 18 training providers, provides technical training alongside stipends, travel allowances, professional toolkits, and assistance with official documentation.
Pehchan, recognized as Punjab’s inaugural dedicated skills initiative for the transgender community, seeks to foster inclusion and economic engagement among marginalized populations.
