Following a brief imprisonment, Imran Khan’s sisters and PTI leaders were released.

Imran Khan’s sisters and a number of PTI leaders were briefly detained by police before being released on Thursday.

Near Adiala Jail, police arrested a number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) figures, including Hamid Raza, Imran Khan’s three sisters, National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, and others.

When authorities arrested the PTI leaders, they had assembled outside the jail to meet the party founder. They were taken by police to an undisclosed location.

When PTI founder Imran Khan’s sisters and party leaders, including Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Hamid Raza, and Niazullah Niazi, arrived at Adiala Jail to meet him, police barred them from proceeding.

Imran’s sisters refused to go and organized a sit-in. A total of seven people were eventually arrested.

Ayub criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in an interview with the media, calling him the worst liar. He also asked how the government intended to support provinces like Balochistan and maintain fuel levies.

Aleema Khan and her two sisters protested after being stopped at the Dahgal checkpoint. They said they will meet Imran before departing.

Similarly, Zartaj Gul was detained at the same checkpoint and informed the media that police had blocked Adiala Road even though they had court orders and jail manual provisions to support their meeting.

At Dahgal, Hamid Raza and Niazullah Niazi were also apprehended. According to Raza, their only option was to demonstrate nonviolently.

Police ordered PTI leaders and supporters to leave the area while Khan’s sisters launched a sit-in.

Imran’s sisters sought refuge in a plaza that was still under construction. Police entered the plaza and arrested seven individuals, including Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, Noreen Khan.

Later, police released all the PTI leaders and Imran Khan’s sisters.
