Suryakumar Yadav encounters criticism over handshake with Mohsin Naqvi

Indian cricket captain Suryakumar Yadav has became embroiled in controversy after shaking hands with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi during the Asia Cup trophy unveiling.
The handshake, documented at the ceremony, rapidly disseminated over Indian media outlets and social networks. A multitude of individuals voiced their indignation, deeming the gesture unsuitable in light of Mohsin Naqvi’s political stance and previous comments on India.
A social media user remarked that shaking hands with Pakistan’s Interior Minister exemplified “the pinnacle of shamelessness.” Another remarked, “Suryakumar Yadav is shaking hands with the individual who menaced India following Operation Sindoor.”
Indian media emphasised the handshake, scrutinising the captain’s decision amidst strained bilateral relations.
Mohsin Naqvi, currently serving as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, took the presidency of the ACC earlier this year.
