NAB chairman summoned by LHC in contempt case

In a contempt of court case, the Lahore High Court on Wednesday ordered the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to appear in person on September 15 and present the entire record.

Advocate Ahsan Abid filed a contempt petition, which was considered by a two-member court chaired by LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum.

The petitioner contended that Hashim Jawan Bakht and Khusro Bakhtiar had amassed unlawful wealth. The NAB did not take any action regarding the complaint against them, even after a court order and a request for inquiry were filed.

He asked the court to hold the NAB chairman in contempt for disobeying the court’s ruling.

The government attorney said that no one had shown up when Chief Justice Aalia Neelum asked who had represented the NAB.

The hearing was then postponed to September 15 after the Lahore High Court summoned the NAB chairman and the record.
