A crackdown on boat owners who take advantage of flood victims is ordered by the Punjab CM.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the chief minister of Punjab, has quickly taken note of private boat owners who are reportedly taking advantage of flood victims financially.
The change was made in response to a report exposing the overcharging of rescue and transport services for individuals trapped in flooded areas.
All private boats operating in the flood-affected area of Jalalpur Pirwala will henceforth be governed by government oversight, following the Chief Minister’s directions. The action is meant to protect victims from being taken advantage of financially while emergency relief efforts are underway.
Payments financed by the state
Additionally, Maryam Nawaz declared that private boat owners will receive direct payment from the Punjab government for their labor. This step guarantees there will be no financial burden on anyone impacted by the floods.
