In the Noor Mukadam case, the SC delays hearing on Zahir Jaffer’s review plea.

Zahir Jaffer, the primary defendant in the Noor Mukadam murder case, submitted a review petition, but the Supreme Court has delayed its hearing for three weeks.

The petition was considered by a three-member court led by Justice Hashim Kakar. Khawaja Haris, a senior attorney, represented the convicted individual.

Given that Salman Safdar had previously represented Zahir Jaffer, Justice Kakar questioned the change of counsel during the proceedings. He asked if it was acceptable to switch attorneys while a case was being reviewed.

In response, Khawaja Haris said that new legal changes now permit a change of counsel even during the review phase.

The judge of the highest court questioned whether the legislation was altered as a matter of principle or for a particular person.

Justice Kakar added that he had written the case’s initial ruling and that Justice Ali Baqar Najafi’s follow-up note was still pending. He implied that either party or both might gain from the extra note.

The hearing was subsequently postponed by the court until the issuance of the supplemental note.
