UN denounces the alleged massacre in Haiti resulting in over 40 fatalities.

The United Nations Secretary-General denounced on Saturday the reported fatalities of at least 40 individuals during an assault by armed gangs in a fishing town north of Haiti’s capital.

Local media in Haiti extensively reported that the assault occurred on Thursday night in Labodrie, indicating a rise in gang violence that has extended beyond the capital.

The United Nations stated, “The Secretary-General is alarmed by the escalating violence in Haiti and urges the Haitian authorities to ensure that those responsible for these and all other human rights abuses and violations are held accountable.”

A representative of the National Police refrained from commenting on the purported homicides.

Local media in Haiti said that gangs incinerated Labodrie following the assassination of a local gang leader known as Vladimir. He was affiliated with a gang coalition called Viv Ansanm, which the U.S. designated as a terrorist group in May.

The US State Department stated that the Viv Ansanm alliance is a significant factor contributing to instability and bloodshed in Haiti. Their members have seized substantial portions of the capital, Port-au-Prince, and extended their influence to other regions.
