Aliya Hamza, a PTI leader, was released from prison.

Aliya Hamza, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the chief organiser of PTI Punjab, was released from District Jail Jhelum on Thursday.

Shortly after her release, Aliya Hamza departed for Lahore under strict protection. Aliya Hamza’s bail was granted Wednesday by Judicial Magistrate Qamar Abbas in exchange for Rs. 100,000 in surety bonds.

In a case filed at the Airport Police Station, Aliya Hamza, the head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and six other party members were arrested in Rawalpindi on April 18. They were charged with obstructing highways, throwing stones at police officers, and meddling in government affairs.

On April 19, the PTI leader was taken to a local court in Islamabad and given a 14-day judicial custody sentence at Adiala Jail. Because of congestion, she was transferred from Adiala Jail to Jhelum Jail.
