The Punjab government rescinds the notification regarding the jail trial of the PTI founder in the May 9 charges.

RAWALPINDI: On Wednesday, the Punjab government rescinded the notification for the incarceration trial of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan concerning the cases from May 12, including the GHQ attack case.
Subsequent to the withdrawal, the trial will now proceed in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) instead of within Adiala Jail. Imran Khan will appear before the court through a video hookup from incarceration.
Prosecutor Zaheer Shah apprised the ATC of the change, indicating that the Punjab government had disseminated fresh notifications mandating that all forthcoming sessions occur within the ATC facility.
The court has set the next hearing for the GHQ attack case on September 19 and has called two prosecution witnesses to provide testimony. ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah will take up the matter.
The court has instructed the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to facilitate comprehensive video link arrangements for Imran Khan’s virtual attendance in preparation for the hearing. Furthermore, SP Security has been directed to enhance security at the ATC complex, with mandates for the deployment of additional personnel to uphold law and order.
The hearing for the remaining 11 cases related to the May 9 event has been postponed until October 1, 2025.
