Khyber Pakhtunkhwa intends to establish an eco-tourism zone in Usho Forest, Kalam.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government plans to create a specialized eco-tourist zone in the scenic Usho Forest in Kalam Valley, Swat, to enhance sustainable tourism in the province.

Dr. Abdul Samad, Secretary of Archaeology and Tourism, made this announcement during a press conference on Wednesday. He stated that Usho Forest is of considerable significance due to its natural beauty and serves as a vital asset in augmenting the tourism allure of Kalam.

Dr. Abdul Samad stated that the recent collaborative “Manro Track” project between the Forest and Tourism Departments is a significant advancement in fostering eco-tourism and stabilizing the local economy.

Dr. Samad stated that the eco-tourism zone will not only foster environmentally sustainable tourism but also aid in stabilizing the local economy by generating employment possibilities.

A traditionally designed rest area will be established in Usho Forest to enhance tourist amenities while maintaining the area’s cultural and natural features.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department has asserted that the natural forests of Usho will be rigorously safeguarded, and no individual will be permitted to damage the environment.

The Tourism Department reports that more projects are being developed in partnership with the Forest Department and local communities to enhance eco-tourism, thereby creating new tourism opportunities while safeguarding the natural environment.
