Khuhro applauds the CCI’s ruling on the canals issue.
Nisar Khuhro, the president of Sindh for the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), hailed the Council of Common Interests’ (CCI) decision on the canals issue on Monday, calling it a triumph of Sindh’s stance and the democratic efforts of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.
Nisar Khuhro stated in a statement that the CCI has decided in accordance with the constitution that no additional canals would be constructed on the Indus River.
According to Khuhro, the CCI is the sole body that can make decisions about water-related matters.
According to him, the CCI’s decision to forgo building a canal on the Indus River is definitive and legal. He said that by settling canal issues like the Kalabagh Dam, the PPP had saved Sindh’s survival.
He stated that Sindh had made a strong argument against the building of canals on Indus River during the CCI conference.
