Amid tensions, Rubio will talk with his Indian and Pakistani counterparts: State Department

In a media conference on Tuesday, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that the US is keeping a close eye on the rising tension between India and Pakistan and is in communication with both governments on a number of levels.

As tensions between the two countries rise, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will shortly address his counterparts in India and Pakistan, according to a State Department official.

Tammy Bruce, a spokesperson, told reporters, “We are reaching out to both parties and telling, of course, them to not escalate the situation.”

According to her, Rubio is urging other foreign ministers to get in touch with those nations.

The tragic incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir last week, which claimed 26 lives, further strained the already tense relations between the two neighbors.

The incident had “cross-border” connections, according to New Delhi.

However, Islamabad has disassociated itself from the attack, voicing “concern” and agreeing to assist with an impartial investigation.

Islamabad denounced India’s decision to halt the Indus Waters Treaty, a long-standing water-sharing pact.

Along with closing border crossings, the two nations have further weakened their diplomatic relations.
