Kareena Kapoor labelled a ‘traitor’ for photographs with Pakistani designer

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor is facing significant scrutiny following the emergence of photographs featuring her alongside prominent Pakistani fashion designer Faraz Manan.

The images posted on Manan’s Instagram on April 27 appear to have been captured in Dubai during what seems to be a private dinner or a professional photoshoot. Manan labelled the post, “With the original.”

The timing of the post has incited significant criticism on Indian social media. The criticism arises within days following the Pahalgam assault on April 22.

The Indian government purportedly accused Pakistan of the incident, exacerbating diplomatic relations and leading to reinstated prohibitions on Pakistani artists in India.

In this contentious atmosphere, Kareena’s collaboration with a Pakistani designer was perceived as exceedingly offensive by numerous online users. Social media sites were inundated with remarks labelling her as “shameless,” “a traitor,” and even alleging her disloyalty to India.

Numerous fans have also reflected on Kareena’s interfaith marriage to actor Saif Ali Khan, perceiving her recent actions as indicative of “family loyalties.” Demands for her boycott swiftly ensued, as users pledged to cease viewing her films or endorsing firms she represents.

Kareena’s enduring professional association with Faraz Manan, a Dubai-based fashion brand operator who has collaborated with numerous Bollywood celebrities, has now emerged as a focal point in the prevailing cultural and political discord between the two nations.

Significantly, other Bollywood luminaries such as Kiara Advani, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonam Kapoor, and Kartik Aaryan also adhere to Faraz Manan and have been observed collaborating with him.

Kareena’s present prominence has rendered her the principal object of public disdain.

Kareena Kapoor has yet to provide any official statement over the controversy.
