PTI submits review petition against bat symbol rejection.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a review case in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, challenging its previous decision to remove the bat emblem from the party for failing to conduct intraparty elections in accordance with the constitution.

The petition was brought by senior solicitors Hamid Khan and Barrister Ali Zafar. Parties to the petition include the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the high court complainants.

In their plea, the PTI stated that the ECP lacked the authority to evaluate the intraparty elections because they were carried out in accordance with the party’s constitution.

The petition further said that the Supreme Court had not considered the facts in a merit-based manner. It declared that taking away a political party’s electoral emblem violated voters’ basic rights.

The petition further said that everyone in Pakistan has the right to create a political party and run for office under the country’s constitution.

The PTI claimed that the supreme court had abused its power by removing the bat emblem from the party. The party also asked the court to deem ECP’s decision to remove the party’s electoral emblem invalid.

Additionally, it begged the Supreme Court to reconsider its judgement and uphold the Peshawar High Court’s order. The PTI has asked the court to reconsider its ruling on intra-party elections from January 13.
