Interior Minister: 6,50,000 Security Personnel Will Be Deployed
All required preparations have been undertaken, according to Interior Minister Gohar Ejaz, to guarantee a transparent and peaceful general election process on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference today in Islamabad with Minister of Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi, he underlined that everyone should use their right to vote on election day without feeling intimidated or afraid.
The Interior Minister stated that in order to provide a favourable atmosphere on election day, the administration, police, and civil armed forces are working nonstop.
Ninety thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven voting places have been set up around the country, according to Gohar Ejaz. Fourteen thousand polling places have been deemed normal out of these, twenty-nine thousand, nine hundred and eighty-five sensitive, and sixteen thousand, seven hundred and sixty-six very sensitive. According to him, an average of seven to eight security guards would be stationed at each polling place. He noted that in order to guarantee the safety of the voters, over 650 thousand security guards had been stationed locally.
The Information Minister stated in his speech that the general elections are happening on Thursday, regardless of any rumours. He emphasised that the nation will be ruled by its elected representatives, as stated in the Constitution’s preamble. According to him, the Information Ministry has also released an app to help both domestic and international journalists.
