Prime Minister Meets Delegation Of Commonwealth Observer Group
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, had a visit earlier today from a team of the Commonwealth Observer Group (COG), which was headed by Mr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the former president of Nigeria.
The gathering was a part of the COG’s outreach to different stakeholders in advance of the general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.
Inviting impartial foreign observers to monitor the general elections, Pakistan is happy to uphold its obligation as a Commonwealth member state, the Caretaker Prime Minister said, welcoming the COG group. He declared that the finest preparations had been done to guarantee a smooth and peaceful election day process nationwide, in spite of many obstacles.
The acting prime minister emphasised that the interim administration had carried out its duties to administer the state’s daily operations and establish a favourable atmosphere before to the elections. It was now the Pakistani people’s chance to use their democratic right to vote.
Thanking the acting prime minister, Mr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan also expressed the best wishes of Ms. Patricia Scotland, the Commonwealth Secretary General. He said that the COG delegation will be observing the election process by visiting different voting places around the nation.
