A jet headed for India makes an emergency landing at the airport in Karachi.

A mechanical issue forced a flight from Baku headed for India to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Tuesday.

A Silk Way Airlines flight was traveling from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Chennai, India, when it encountered a mechanical issue over the Arabian Sea in Indian airspace, according to airport officials.

The pilot asked for permission to land by getting in touch with the closest air traffic control (ATC) in Karachi.

The authorities added that the plane made a safe landing at Karachi Airport after being cleared. The aircraft was inspected while parked at Terminal 1.
