MDCAT required for admission to government medical colleges

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has mandated that all impoverished patients in the province receive medical treatment at any hospital free of charge.
During a special conference on health sector changes, she asserted that no cancer patient should remain untreated owing to financial limitations.
Significant determinations regarding healthcare reforms
The meeting, presided over by CM Maryam Nawaz, sanctioned a new admission policy for public and private medical and dentistry institutes in Punjab. It has been determined that passing the MDCAT examination will be requisite for admission to government medical colleges.
A cost of $10,000 will be imposed on the children of abroad Pakistanis for the MDCAT. Candidates listed in the merit lists of private medical colleges must remit one-third of the cost to the University of Health Sciences (UHS). Upon the announcement of the final merit list, UHS will remit the specified sum to the individual college, while students will then deposit the outstanding charge at the relevant private medical and dental institution.
Mandatory service and specialization policy
The group concurred on a plan to implement mandatory service following postgraduate training in private hospitals. The new strategy stipulates that trainee doctors would be assigned to specialize in pertinent sections of private medical colleges based on the demand for specialists.
Maryam Nawaz further sanctioned a proposal to establish medical blocks within government universities rather than erecting wholly new medical college facilities, hence insuring economical expansion.
Acknowledgment of Medical Accomplishments
CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her elation on recent medical achievements, specifically the inaugural successful angioplasty in Sahiwal and the commencement of surgery at the Sahiwal Cardiac Center. She instructed Mayo Hospital to establish secure and transparent protocols for treatment at the coablation center.
Assistance for oncology patients and economically disadvantaged families
Maryam Nawaz underscored the necessity of guaranteeing cancer sufferers’ treatment at all costs. She emphasized that all impoverished patients should have access to complimentary treatment in hospitals throughout Punjab, reaffirming her dedication to enhancing healthcare accessibility.
The Chief Minister sanctioned the establishment of management boards for many institutions and instructed the prompt actions required for the swift creation of the Nawaz Sharif Medical City.
