Islamabad High Court mandates by-election in Muzaffargarh’s PP-269.

The Islamabad High Court has mandated new elections in the provincial constituency PP-269 in Muzaffargarh.

The division bench, consisting of Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Inam Amin Minhas, has suspended the May 15 decision of a single bench that mandated a vote recount.

Previously, Justice Saman Riffat Imtiaz of the single bench mandated a recount in PP-269, subsequent to which PPP MPA Alamdaar Abbas resigned from the Punjab Assembly.

Subsequent to his resignation, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced the vacancy of the seat, facilitating a new election.

The recent court order has transferred responsibility to the electoral commission, as voters in PP-269 prepare to vote once more.
