Imran Khan petitions the court to stop the trial for the May 9 GHQ attack.

Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), filed a motion with the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday asking for the trial in the May 9 GHQ attack case to be put on hold.

The main goal of the plea is to halt video-link operations until the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court renders a verdict.

Imran Khan’s plea contended that it would be improper to proceed with the trial via video link prior to the Lahore High Court’s decision. His attorneys requested further time from the ATC to examine the case’s legal issues.

The answer of a government lawyer

The government’s attorney responded by reminding the judge that Khan’s attorneys had previously filed two petitions contesting the video-link appearance. The defense, according to the state, was trying to drag out the proceedings.

After taking note of the submissions, the Anti-Terrorism Court called for thorough arguments from both sides. Whether the trial should be postponed until higher court orders are given will be the main topic of discussion at the hearing.
