Murad Ali Shah takes the chief minister of Sindh oath.
In a ceremony that was seen by members of the business community, MPAs and MNAs of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and others, Governor Kamran Tessori delivered the oath to him.
A total of 148 votes were cast during the chief minister’s election, which was overseen by Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Owais Qadir Shah. Murad Ali Shah received 112. Ali Khurshidi, the MQM-P candidate running against him, received 36 votes.
Following their election victories on February 8, independent lawmakers backed by the PTI and members of the Sunni Ittehad Council and Jamat-i-Islami (JI) parties did not cast ballots.
This will be the politician’s third consecutive term as chief minister of Sindh. He held the position from 2016 to 2018 and again from 2018 to 2023.

Shah, who was born in Sehwan Sharif in the Jamshoro district, works as a civil engineer for the Water and Power Development Authority. He joined the organisation as an engineer following his graduation from NED University.
He began working as an executive engineer for the Port Qasim Authority before moving to the US to attend Stanford University to study structural and economic engineering.
He was a director of the Fish Harbour Authority as well.
When the PPP chose to unseat Syed Qaim Ali Shah in 2016, he was elected as chief minister for the first time. He has served the province as the minister of finance, electricity, and irrigation before taking office as chief minister.
Due to his mixed nationality, he was deemed unable to run in the general elections of 2013. Subsequently, he gave up his Canadian citizenship. Following a court’s approval, he competed in a by-election and was elected back to the Sindh Assembly.
