Punjab introduces new guidelines for government workers on social media.

The Punjab government has released new guidelines that regulate how government workers use social media, emphasizing the need for prudence when disseminating information, ideas, or statements online.

According to a circular released by the Department of Services and General Administration on Wednesday, personnel are not allowed to remark on government policy or voice personal opinions without first obtaining permission.

According to the circular, “officials must exercise the utmost caution because their conduct directly influences public perception.” All platforms are covered by the rules, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Twitter. It is strictly forbidden to publish anything that is thought to endanger public order, morals, or national security.

Likewise, content that incites sectarianism, encourages unlawful activity, or disparages the government or court will not be accepted.

The circular further cautioned that it is totally prohibited to use social media for self-promotion or personal renown. When using the internet, government workers are supposed to maintain the highest moral standards, honesty, and accountability.

It ended with a warning that officials who break the regulations will face disciplinary action.

The usage of cell phones in class is prohibited.

The Punjabi government prohibited students and instructors from using cell phones in class last year. In both public and private schools, district education authorities were directed to implement the restriction rigorously.

During school hours, the government also mandated that teachers wear watches, appropriate footwear, and coats. Sources at the Punjab School Education Department claim that instructors’ frequent use of cell phones has resulted in complaints about time being squandered.

According to a senior source, more significant issues have arisen as a result of teachers and students using their phones to film videos and post them on social media.

The CEOs of every district education authority received 20 directives from the government. According to the source, the education ministry created the criteria to guarantee student welfare and discipline.

It was mandatory for all educators to place their phones at the administrative offices. In the event that the ban was broken, the phones were to be seized and departmental action taken.

Students and teachers were told to show their school cards and badges. Students were to wear navy blue sweaters as directed, and any who did not had to leave the school premises.

All school administrations were directed to post the schedule. In addition to requesting that schools display patriotic slogans, class representatives were to be chosen in order to maintain discipline.

Teachers were told to record the number of pupils present on a corner of the blackboard, and students were expected to write in registers during class.

Rana Liaqat Ali, the secretary general of the Punjab Teachers Union, commented on the directives, saying that the ban was a positive move because teachers in the province had already stopped using phones.
