PPP issues: Dar will update parliament on the defense pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan

The PPP’s reservations regarding the recently inked defense deal between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have been addressed by the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Sources say that on October 3, Ishaq Dar, the deputy prime minister and foreign minister, will give a briefing on the defense agreement to the Senate and National Assembly.
More extensive policy debate is anticipated in parliament.
Ishaq Dar will also address the House on Pakistan’s stance on a 20-point agenda related to ties with the United States, according to further sources.
PPP’s interest in the specifics of the deal
The biggest supporter of the federal government, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has stated that it is still unsure of the specifics of the newly inked defense pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
When Bilawal Bhutto Zardari returns, her party hopes Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would take him under his wing, senior PPP leader and MNA Shazia Marri told Samaa TV.

Shazia Marri stated in her exclusive interview with Samaa TV that although the PPP is pleased with the development, the party is awaiting a formal briefing.

“It is good that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have reached a defense deal. Any diplomatic triumph for Pakistan makes the PPP delighted. Every positive update about the nation is always welcomed,” she remarked.
PPP requests that Bilawal be included in the conversation.
Marri underlined that after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returns from his overseas trip, her party anticipates that he will get in touch with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. “With regard to the agreement, we hope Bilawal Bhutto will be taken into confidence,” she continued.
The two sides had agreed to resolve all issues through discussion on Wednesday. A good meeting between the PML-N and PPP delegations was held at the National Assembly chamber in Islamabad. The parties committed to refraining from using harsh language against one another and promised to settle disagreements respectfully.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Rana Mubashir were present at the meeting. Ijaz Jakhrani and Syed Naveed Qamar were part of the PPP delegation.
According to sources on Wednesday, the PPP had earlier called for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take back her recent remarks and apologize in public.
The issue was brought up during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and a PPP team in Islamabad, exposing growing divisions within the ruling coalition.
