P&G leaves from Pakistan

Procter & Gamble (P&G), a leading global consumer goods corporation, announced its decision to terminate its direct production and commercial operations in Pakistan, including Gillette Pakistan Ltd, and shift to a third-party distribution model.

In a statement on Thursday, the corporation announced that the move was integral to its global initiatives aimed at expediting growth and enhancing value creation. P&G has opted to alter its business and operational framework in Pakistan, transitioning to a third-party distributor model to maintain consumer service.

“This indicates the cessation of manufacturing and commercial operations of P&G Pakistan and Gillette Pakistan Ltd., with consumer needs being met through our other regional operations.”

The company stated it will maintain normal operations until the transfer process is finalized, which may last many months. Transition planning will commence immediately, with the business asserting that its primary emphasis is on P&G personnel. Employees affected by role changes will be evaluated for positions in other P&G operations outside of Pakistan or provided with separation packages in compliance with local regulations, corporate standards, and P&G’s values and principles.

Concurrently, the Board of Gillette Pakistan convened an emergency meeting, during which the directors ratified P&G’s decision to depart and approved the arrangements for delisting from the PSX.
