In Punjab, more than 46,000 petitions for teacher transfers were denied.

The School Education Department reports that almost 46,000 of the 56,000 teacher transfer applications that were received throughout Punjab were turned down.

About 18,000 applications were rejected outright after evaluation, while another 28,000 were not even screened via the online system because of eligibility or technical problems, according to the department.

Only about 9,500 applications have been accepted for additional processing, according to departmental sources. Only 162 teachers have gotten final approval for transfers thus far.

Teachers from all throughout the province submitted 56,000 transfer applications to the School Education Department. Final transfer orders will be given on October 15 following successful verification of the data of the 9,500 instructors who made the short list, which is scheduled for September 6.

Teachers, many of whom were hoping for transfers for personal or professional reasons, are concerned about the high number of rejections.
