Pakistan urges India to honor the rights of the Kashmiri people.

Pakistan stated on Friday that India must respect the Kashmiri people’s basic rights, especially their right to self-determination, which is protected by UN Security Council resolutions.

The Foreign Office official added, “Pakistan believes that the way to lasting peace and stability in South Asia is to settle the Kashmir dispute.”

He stated, “The people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) freely enjoy their civil and political rights and are actively involved in shaping their democratic future.”

He stated that Pakistan was still fully dedicated to protecting its rights, including the freedom to peacefully assemble and protest, respecting its feelings, and helping its economy grow.

He went on to say, “This commitment is not only our constitutional duty, but also our moral duty to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”

He remarked, “In stark contrast, our brothers and sisters in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to face a grim reality under occupation.”

He went on to say, “The use of brute force, denial of basic freedoms, and systematic and serious human rights violations have become the hallmarks of India’s state-sponsored terrorism against the innocent Kashmiri people to suppress their just struggle.” He also said, “Efforts to silence dissent, demographic engineering, and the denial of civil liberties show how serious the situation is.”

He said, “Instead of making false accusations against AJK, India needs to follow the rules of international law and the UN Charter.”
