On World Teachers Day, the President and PM reaffirm their commitment to promoting the teaching profession.

As the country prepares to commemorate World Teachers Day on Sunday (today), President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have promised to continue to support the teaching profession.

President Asif Ali Zardari stated in a statement that “our vision for a robust, inclusive, and future-ready education system remains central to initiatives to strengthen teacher training institutions, integrate technology into classrooms, improve working conditions, and uphold the dignity and respect of teachers.”

He sent his sincere congratulations to educators worldwide as well as in Pakistan.

“Today serves as a reminder to honour the honourable profession of teaching and to recognise the commitment, insight, and sacrifices of those who mould minds, cultivate character, and light the way of knowledge for generations,” he added.

Teaching is a sacred calling of the highest calibre, not just a job. Teachers are the keepers of information and values, pointing young minds in the direction of excellence, fairness, and truth,” he said, adding that their impact goes well beyond the classroom, changing lives, fostering community, and establishing the groundwork for educated and affluent nations.
He stated, “Let us pledge to respect, support, and empower them so they may continue to guide our children towards wisdom, excellence, and progress,” while offering heartfelt gratitude to all educators for their unwavering service and priceless contributions.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif stated in a message that the government’s top priority was to make the educational system efficient and in line with contemporary demands so that the next generation could compete globally in scientific and technical fields and honour the nation.

“Today, Pakistan joins the world in honouring educators worldwide for their invaluable contributions,” he remarked.

“I pay my deepest tribute to the teachers across Pakistan, who have rendered selfless services on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan,” he said, adding that “designating a day for teachers at the global level provides an opportunity to acknowledge the services of teachers not only in Pakistan but also around the world.”

“Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession is the theme for this year’s World Teachers’ Day celebration in 2025,” he stated.

He stated, “The goal is to emphasise how important it is to foster harmony among educators, schools, and educational systems worldwide.”

“Only the most advanced and effective educational system can boost the nation’s and country’s individual and collective capacity and result in improvements to the government system and policies,” he stated.
