IMF replies to the founder of PTI’s letter on the election audit in 2024
Regarding the IMF’s involvement with Pakistan under the loan agreement, the founder of the PTI issued a letter to the organization. The foreign lender got the letter on February 28.
“The IMF does not comment on domestic political events since it is an international organization with a limited mission on economic matters. In response to the PTI founder’s letter, an IMF official stated, “We do encourage the fair and peaceful resolution of all electoral disputes, given the importance of the institutional environment for economic stability and growth.”
In terms of our relationship with Pakistan, our goal is to assist in the execution of robust policies aimed at strengthening financial stability, addressing the fundamental issues with the economy and balance of payments, and reestablishing steady and equitable growth forthe benefit of all Pakistani citizens.”
