India and Pakistan will play in the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in Colombo today.

India Women (IND W) and Pakistan Women (PAK W) will play each other in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 on Sunday (today) at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

With a 59-run victory over Sri Lanka in their season opener, the Women in Blue got off to a great start. With the help of Pratika Rawal (37), Harleen Deol (48), Deepti Sharma (53), and Amanjot Kaur (57), the Indian team scored 269/8 after being asked to bat first. Inoka Ranaweera took four wickets for Sri Lanka.

The match was shortened to 47 overs due to rain-related delays. But because to India’s brilliant bowling, the opposition was bowled out for 211, giving Harmanpreet Kaur’s team a 59-run victory using the DLS technique.

However, Pakistan just suffered a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Bangladesh. The Women in Green were bowled out for just 129 runs after experiencing a batting collapse. Rubya Haider’s undefeated fifty helped the Nigar Sultana-led team secure a resounding victory.

Report about R Premadasa Stadium’s pitch

The R. Premadasa Stadium frequently hosts high-scoring games and is considered to favour hitters. But early on, fast bowlers can take advantage of some assistance, and as the game goes on, the spinners will be used.

Women of India (IND W)

Fatima Sana, the captain of Pakistan’s women’s cricket team, had stated that her team is only “focused” on the “game.”

The much awaited match between bitter rivals is probably going to be similar to the tensions that existed during the most recent Asia Cup, when India’s men’s squad was criticised for acting in an unsportsmanlike manner.

Indian media earlier this week alluded to the potential for heightened drama, political overtones, and another handshake snub.

The ICC Media Manager told reporters not to bring up the handshake controversy or politics at Pakistan skipper Fatima’s pre-match press conference.

In response, Fatima, a member of the national squad at the time, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to upholding the spirit while emphasising that their main goal is to “stay focused” on the game.
