Putin says that this year Russia has taken control of 5,000 square kilometers in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed on Tuesday that Russian troops took control of approximately 5,000 square kilometers (1930 square miles) of land in Ukraine in 2025 and that Moscow still had full strategic control on the battlefield.

Kyiv was seeking to get deep into Russian territory.
