Leaders of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia promise to improve commercial ties again.

On Wednesday, Gohar Ejaz, the former federal caretaker minister for commerce and the interior, met with Saudi Prince Mansour bin Mohammed at the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Business Conference. Both sides promised to work together to strengthen trade and investment ties between their two countries.

Prince Mansour bin Mohammed said that Gohar Ejaz’s time as caretaker minister was when the groundwork for business ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia was laid.

He said that 18 months ago, a group of Pakistani businesspeople led by Ejaz went to Saudi Arabia and suggested setting up a Pakistan–Saudi Business Council. This helped make bilateral business cooperation more official.

Prince Mansour claimed he had been chosen to be the Chairman of the Saudi Business Council, while Pakistan had chosen Fawad Ahmed Mukhtar to be the Pakistani Chairman. He went on to say that the Saudi delegation’s current trip to Pakistan was meant to strengthen the partnership and look for new investment opportunities.

Ejaz welcomed the Saudi delegation, which was led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammed. He stressed that the governments and people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have close ties. He stated that both sides were now focused on strengthening economic ties and increasing trade and investment in key areas.

He said that Saudi investors were very interested in putting money into Pakistan’s agriculture, real estate, and mining industries. There were also good chances in corporate farming and oil and gas exploration.

Ejaz stated that while the Saudi group was in Pakistan, meetings were being set up with businesses and chambers of commerce in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore to talk about real ways to work together.
