Sher Afzal Marwat contests the prohibition on jail visits with the PTI founder.
Citing security concerns, the Punjab Home Department Wednesday prohibited contacts with the PTI founder in Adiala Jail.
Marwat contended before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that the provincial home department lacks the authority to prohibit gatherings within correctional facilities.
He has begged the judge to nullify the prohibition order. If the prohibition on meeting with the party head is not repealed, he threatened to organize a protest by all members of parliament.
According to sources inside the Punjab home department, the home department has put a two-week restriction on gatherings. Media coverage in front of gate number five of Adiala Jail is also forbidden.
The media teams were told to keep two kilometers away from the jail by the security guards, who also declared that media coverage was not permitted.
It should be mentioned that, per court orders, the Adiala Jail administration set aside Tuesday and Thursday for talks with the PTI founder; however, the sessions have now been suspended for a period of two weeks.
An alleged plan to attack Adiala jail was thwarted last week by the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and police working together. Three suspects were taken into custody for explosives and the facility layout.
