Prominent Pakistani actor Saleem Meraj has defended fellow actress Hira Mani, telling detractors to quit focusing on her personal preferences and social media posts.

According to Meraj, who recently spoke on a podcast, Hira Mani should be free to enjoy life at this age without facing severe criticism.

“It is not justified to criticize Hira Mani.”

Saleem Meraj underlined during the conversation that Hira Mani’s lifestyle and fashion choices, such as her frequent appearances in sarees and other fine attire, shouldn’t be the cause of criticism from the general public.

He said that people’s continuous criticism of Hira and her husband Mani “makes no sense” because they are both “very good people.”

“Let her enjoy life if that’s what she wants to do at this age. She shouldn’t be criticized for that,” Meraj said.

Social media influencers should be given acting roles.

The actor also responded to persistent criticism on the entry of social media influencers and TikTokers into the entertainment sector. If such people have true talent, he continued, there’s nothing wrong with providing them acting opportunities.

“New and young talents are essential for modern roles in dramas and films,” Meraj said, citing the successful transition of Hania Aamir from social media to mainstream television.
