Nominations for the KP Chief Minister election will be accepted today.

The examination of the nomination papers will occur at 4:00 PM under the oversight of the Speaker of the KP Assembly.

The definitive list of candidates will be published tonight at 5:00 PM.

According to sources, the election for the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is scheduled to occur at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 13, via a show of hands.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has appointed Sohail Afridi, a former student leader, as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), succeeding Ali Amin Gandapur.

Sohail Afridi has directed the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) in the province and is a member of the PTI’s central executive committee.

He is from Khyber district and is currently serving his inaugural term as a member of the provincial assembly representing PK-70.

The PTI relinquished the notion of a no-confidence move against the departing Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur following the confirmation of Gandapur’s resignation by the KP Governor House.

A conference convened in Peshawar with constitutional experts at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat, where it was determined that the no-confidence resolution was rendered irrelevant following Gandapur’s resignation, therefore nullifying the move against him.

The KP Governor House announced that Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation was officially received at 2:30 PM on Saturday.

“Following comprehensive verification and legal examination, the resignation will be executed in accordance with constitutional protocols,” stated the spokesperson for the Governor’s House.

The resignation letter, penned by Gandapur, was submitted to the Governor House by Brigadier (retired) Mohammad Musaddiq Abbasi, the chief minister’s adviser on anti-corruption. The caretaker of the Governor’s House received the resignation and issued an official acknowledgment receipt.
