The request for Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), to be disqualified was accepted for hearing by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) last week.

Additionally, the chief minister was instructed by the election watchdog to appear before the District Election Commissioner on March 26.

In a brief ruling on the appeal, a two-member ECP bench affirmed that Ali Amin Gandapur had not given the election commission access to his assets.

It was argued in the plea that 735 kanals of land in Dera Ismail Khan had been illegally transferred into Ali Amin Gandapur’s name.

The chief minister, KP, is ineligible to hold public office, according to the disqualification plea. The plea said that Ali Amin Gandapur ought to be removed from office and disqualified for making a false statement while serving as a member of the KP Assembly.
