PHC calls off the NA-1 Chitral by-election

The NA-1 Chitral by-election has been put on hold by the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

The petition challenging the disqualification of National Assembly Member Abdul Latif Chitrali was considered by a two-judge panel made up of Justices Syed Arshad Ali and Waqar Ahmad.

Khurram Shehzad, the Election Commission’s Additional DG Law, asked the court to postpone the issue until the following week during the hearing, noting that the Commission will then make its reasons.

In addition to ordering the suspension of the NA-1 Chitral by-election until further notice, the court also sent a notice to the Election Commission.
