Aleema contests the protest case from November 26 and delays the indictment process.

The indictment procedure has been delayed as a result of Aleema Khan, the sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, contesting both the indictment proceedings and the case in general pertaining to the demonstration on November 26.

Aleema Khan also disputed the court’s jurisdiction. The judge dismissed the non-bailable arrest warrants against her and granted her request for a hearing.

She claimed in her plea that she was only accused of delivering a message from Imran Khan and not of taking part in the demonstration. She said that everyone has the right to free expression under the Constitution and that, according to Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), communicating a message is not terrorism. She also argued that since the media spread the same message across the country, they should also be held accountable if spreading a message equates to terrorism.

According to the petition, Aleema Khan had relayed Imran Khan’s message to ten to fifteen members of the media, who subsequently disseminated it around the country. As a result, the case itself ought to be dismissed as the inclusion of Section 7 ATA in it is illegal.

In order to postpone the indictment proceedings against Aleema Khan and other accused individuals, the court granted the motion for hearing and sent notices to the state and the prosecutor.

Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan, and Noreen Khan left for Adiala Jail after the court hearings.
