Sanam Javed has been granted permission to participate in the Senate elections.
Sanam Javed relocated to the Appellate Tribunal following the rejection of her nomination papers by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The tribunal upheld Sanam Javed’s appeal on the rejection of her nomination papers.
LHC Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan of the tribunal delivered a ruling that had been reserved on Thursday following the conclusion of arguments from both parties.
The court mandated the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to add the name of Sanam Javed to the roster of candidates participating in the Senate elections.
PTI worker Sanam Javed is currently incarcerated due to her involvement in multiple cases related to the violent protests that occurred on May 9. These riots were sparked by the arrest of a previous prime minister at the IHC premises.
Individually, candidates from the PTI party, namely Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, and Khurram Zeeshan, have lodged appeals in election tribunals regarding the dismissal of their nomination papers for the Senate elections.
“In their appeals filed in the Peshawar election tribunal, Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, and Khurram Zeeshan have argued that the election commission has challenged their nomination papers based on unfounded allegations.”
