Every human being has the right to equal, secure, and reasonably priced access to food: President Zardari

Equal, safe, and affordable access to food is a fundamental human right, according to President Asif Ali Zardari, who also emphasized that everyone has responsibility for ensuring food security, not only the government.
The President stated in his address that October 16 has been recognized as World Food Day since 1979. “Water is Life, Water is Food” is this year’s theme. The phrase “Leave No One Behind” emphasizes group efforts to improve food and the future.
According to President Zardari, millions of people in Pakistan rely on agriculture as their primary source of income. However, food shortages are getting worse due to climate change, floods, and inflation, and many families are still unable to afford wholesome meals.
The government is encouraging climate-resilient farming, enhancing water and land management, and guaranteeing effective food delivery systems, he said, expressing concern over child malnutrition.
He went on to say that the government is working to prevent food waste, that aid for flood victims is still being provided, and that protecting vulnerable populations and increasing agricultural productivity are still major priority.
“Our goal is that every household has access to food and that no child sleeps hungry,” President Zardari said, restating the government’s pledge.
