A new announcement regarding the NICOP cost is made by NADRA.

The information indicates that NADRA has implemented this service for Pakistanis living abroad in compliance with orders from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

According to NADRA, when the death has been registered with the appropriate Union Council or Pakistani embassy, any member of the deceased’s immediate family, including parents, siblings (Alpha family), spouse, and children (Beta family), may cancel the NICOP at no cost.

The process can be accomplished either through the Pak-ID mobile app or by visiting the nearest NADRA centre. Additionally, NADRA has eliminated the requirement to revoke the deceased’s NICOP card.

With the goal of making the process quicker, more effective, and more transparent, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), working with provincial governments, has launched a new digital system to register births and deaths in hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Pakistan.

In response to directives from Mohsin Naqvi, the Federal Interior Minister, NADRA is making a concerted effort to rectify the nation’s registration system.

On January 1, 2025, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif adopted the National Biometric and Registration Policy Framework, which includes this program.

The system is presently in a testing phase, and after provincial preparations are finished, NADRA says it will be expanded nationwide.
