Pakistan counters the Indian narrative by sending a delegation to Moscow.

In order to communicate Islamabad’s stance on recent regional events and advance peace through diplomacy, Pakistan is sending a high-level delegation to Moscow, headed by Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs.

The trip to Russia is a component of a larger diplomatic outreach that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif started. As part of this outreach, a multi-party delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and a former foreign minister, has been sent to Western capitals, including New York, Washington, D.C., London, and Brussels.

Mr. Fatemi’s delegation will meet with top Russian officials, think tanks, and media representatives to emphasise Pakistan’s “responsible and peaceful stance” in contrast to India’s “irresponsible and aggressive actions,” according to Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan.

The FO stated, “The goal of this outreach is to mobilise global opinion in support of Pakistan and to reinforce the message that peace, dialogue, and diplomacy must take precedence over conflict.”

Key political figures and former diplomats, including Dr. Mosaddiq Malik, Senator Sherry Rehman, Hina Rabbani Khar, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari, Bushra Anjum Butt, former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, and Tehmina Janjua, are part of the nine-member delegation headed by Mr. Bhutto-Zardari.

With an emphasis on the necessity of the international community playing a positive role in maintaining stability in South Asia, the two teams will meet with representatives of the government, parliament, media, think tanks, and the Pakistani diaspora, among other international stakeholders.

Among other things, the delegations will bring up the Indus Waters Treaty, demanding that its original provisions be followed and that its regular operations be resumed immediately.
