In protests across the city, JI denounces KE.

In response to K-Electric’s (KE) load shedding, acceptance of a severe multi-year rate, and recovery of line losses from regular customers, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) organised citywide rallies on Monday.

Protesters brandished signs and shouted slogans against KE, NEPRA, the government nexus, and authorities during demonstrations at K-E’s Integrated Business Centres (IBCs) and eleven other strategic locations. District chiefs and other officials spoke at the gatherings.

Ameer Monem Zafar Khan said at a demonstration outside the Liaquatabad Post Office, JI Karachi, that the city’s residents are suffering because of the lengthy load shedding periods in the midst of the intense heat.

He said that a sit-in at a KE IBC in Malir has been going on for 14 days in a row under JI. However, he wanted to make it clear that JI fights for the people and has no personal grudges against anyone.
