Schools in Islamabad will start serving free lunches this week.
In order to give kids a healthy midday meal, federal government schools have started implementing a free lunch programme.
With the announcement of the programme, Education Secretary Mohiuddin Wani reaffirmed the government’s commitment to guaranteeing that students across have access to necessary resources.
40 primary schools will start receiving midday meals this week as part of the program’s initial phase, he said. The free meal programme will specifically start this week and assist 20 schools in the Tarnol and Nilore districts.
Secretary Wani emphasised the cooperation between a trust and the government in assisting with school lunch distribution. Reiterating the significance of providing all children with sufficient nutrition to enhance their education and growth was the speaker.
Furthermore, Secretary Wani presented plans for the program’s growth, disclosing that free meals will be implemented in all of Islamabad’s elementary schools within the next two months. In order to combat food poverty among school-age children, this initiative seeks to reach a wider demographic of pupils.
