Pakistan and Saint Lucia make their diplomatic relationship official.
At a simple event at the Pakistan Mission to the UN, Pakistan and Saint Lucia, an island country in the West Indies in the eastern Caribbean, made their connections official.
Ambassador Menissa Rambally from Saint Lucia and Ambassador Munir Akram, who is Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN, signed a joint statement on behalf of their governments that made the diplomatic ties between the two countries official.
Botschaft Akram said, “Both countries have been working together at multilateral forums, such as the Commonwealth.” He also said that formalizing relations would help to strengthen ties between the two countries, especially in trade, business, politics, and tourism.
Silence up
His words showed that people from both Pakistan and St. Lucia loved cricket.
“We’re excited about the stronger bond between people.” Visiting both countries would be a great way to see how much tourism potential they have, he said.
Before the event, Ambassador Menissa Rambally talked about how happy she was that the two countries were starting a new, important stage in their relationship.
It was said that Darren Sammy, a former West Indies cricket star who now lives in St. Lucia but is also an honored Pakistani citizen, would always talk about Pakistan and how friendly the people are there.
“I have learned a lot from him,” Ambassador Rambally said as she thanked Ambassador Akram for hosting the event.
The UN envoy for Pakistan’s words about her country and its people made her feel humble, she said.
She said that relations between Pakistan and Saint Lucia were already great and that they worked together in a number of different settings. However, she also said that they could improve their relationship even more by establishing proper diplomatic ties.
Officials from the Pakistan Mission and the Permanent Mission of Saint Lucia, as well as Ambassador Usman Jadoon, who is the deputy permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, were all there.
