TikTok claims a cyberattack targeted well-known brands, such as CNN.

Remarkably few accounts were hacked, and a representative for TikTok stated that the company has strengthened its security measures to counter the hackers’ approach.

Responding to a question from AFP, the spokeswoman stated, “We have taken measures to stop this attack and prevent it from happening in the future.”

In order to restore access when needed, we are corresponding directly with the owners of the impacted accounts.

Media sources said that the attackers’ weakness, which TikTok would not disclose in full, featured a direct messaging feature.

CNN reportedly alerted TikTok to the assault on well-known brands’ and celebrities’ accounts by “malicious actors.”

“We have been working closely with CNN to protect their account going forward by restoring account access and putting in place enhanced security measures,” the representative stated.

The hacking of CNN’s account last week resulted in the network having to temporarily halt its TikTok presence, as first reported by news site Semafor.
