government allots Rs27,000 million to health sector in budget 2024–25.

The budget paper that was announced on Wednesday states that out of the entire allocation, Rs 19,868.670 million has been set aside for new initiatives and Rs 7,131.330 million has been designated for continuing schemes.

Five hundred million Indian rupees will go toward the Prime Minister’s National Programme to End Hepatitis C Infection, and two thousand million will go toward the Prime Minister’s National Programme to Prevent Diabetes.

Also, it allocated three million rupees to build a stroke intervention and critical care center at PIMS and two and a half million rupees to purchase equipment for a cancer hospital in Islamabad.

Sehat Sahulat Programme (SSP), Phase-II, will receive Rs 550 million, while the Federal Government Polyclinic (FGPC) in Islamabad will receive Rs 1,500 million to upgrade its cardiology and other facilities.

Similarly, 200 beds for the accident and emergency department at PIMS (PC-II) will be funded with Rs 800 million, and Rs 307 million will go toward the acquisition of modern electro-medical equipment to replace the outdated and clunky systems that have been in existence for a long time, with the goal of improving healthcare delivery.

The construction of a cancer hospital in Islamabad would cost 1,060.093 million rupees, while the radiology department at Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore will receive an upgrade of 609.649 million rupees.
