The meeting with Fazlur Rehman is with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

The minister of interior asked how Maulana Fazlur Rehman was doing during his visit.

“I am praying for your health and safety,” stated Interior Minister Naqvi, expressing his best wishes for Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Mohsin Naqvi said that he had a respectful and honorable 25-year friendship with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, was previously visited by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif at his Islamabad home.

In an attempt to restore relations that had soured following the national elections in February 2024, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the home of a former ally.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude for Fazlur Rehman’s religious services as well as his role in defending democracy in Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif suggested creating a committee in order to repair the relationship.

JUI-F Chief Fazlur Rehman had been accusing people of electoral tampering and calling for a new mandate.
