Pakistan’s prospects in the T20 World Cup are bleak due to the weather in Florida.
Some parts of the state might soon see a potentially fatal flood, according to the National Weather Service.
Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis stated, “Preliminary reports indicate that the rainfall and flooding has affected and may continue to impact the operational capability of critical infrastructure, including major interstates, state and county roadways, airports, schools, and other critical infrastructure throughout these counties.”
In case you’re not familiar, Florida will host the last three Group A matches between India and Canada, Pakistan and Ireland, and the co-host United States of America (USA).
In the event that Pakistan’s bid to compete in the T20 World Cup 2024 is unsuccessful, Pakistan would only have one point if the USA and Ireland’s match is abandoned.
Consequently, if the defending champions defeat Ireland in their last group-stage match on June 16, Pakistan could only receive four points. Meanwhile, the USA will advance to the Super 8s stage with five points from four matches.
A soggy outfield here at Central Broward Regional Park prevented Pakistan from holding their planned practice session earlier today.
Rather, the national squad will engage in mild physical training, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“A wet outfield has caused the Pakistan cricket team to postpone today’s practice session in Florida.” Nevertheless, PCB said that the players will participate in a brief physical training exercise.
