On May 9, Omar Ayub and other PTI leaders were granted bail.
Details indicate that Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Azam Swati, Zartaj Gul, Zain Qureshi, and former party head Fawad Chaudhry were among the PTI leaders who were the subject of a case hearing by the Anti-Terrorism Court.
The cops did not show up in court with the documentation of four cases or their witnesses. The investigating officer irritated the judge at this point.
The conviction against the 51 accused in the May 9 riot charges was handed down by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in March.
The case was heard by Judge Natasha Naseem Supra of the ATC Court, who also presented the allegations against each of the defendants, who were identified as employees of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Under various rules, the judge sentenced each of the 51 offenders to five years in jail.
violence on May 9
After former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested on May 9, 2023, violent altercations broke out all over Pakistan.
The arrest of their chairman had infuriated the party’s workers, who staged rallies in both big and distant cities. Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad had called in the armed forces to maintain peace and order.
PTI workers have attacked Army posts during the protests, including the Corps Commander’s residence in Lahore.
It is important to note that in every prosecution involving the May 9 riots, the PTI founder is listed as the primary culprit.
